Ben Ackley is an artist, designer, archivist, and musician from Lansing, MI. His work is all grit, grime, and the reuse of public domain elements. He is most inspired by the aesthetics of the early punk rock and self-publishing scenes (with a generous helping of 1800s typefaces and block print illustrations).
He recieved his MS in Library and Information Science from The University of Illinois in Champaign, Illinois. Before that, he got his BFA in Journalism (with a minor in multimedia design and a creative writing certificate) from Central Michigan University in Mount Pleasant, Michigan. He has held positions at archives, libraries, museums, newspapers, and other cultural institutions across the Midwest.
When not at work, he can be found parked in front of the stereo, maybe with his partner Rissa and cat Juniper (so long as he hasn't scared them away listening to jug band music).
